1. First and foremost, you need to eat a well balanced, healthy
breakfast. Try eating protein like eggs or a fortified cereal that is
filled with vitamins and minerals to start off your day with a burst of
energy.
2. Drink plenty of water. You hear this all the time but do you actually do it? Water is very beneficial for health, it flushes out your system and gives you clear skin but it also keeps you from becoming dehydrated. When we become dehydrated we feel drained and fatigued. So try to drink at least six glasses of water throughout the day.
3. Exercise. I can't emphasize enough how great exercise is for the body. When you exercise, especially in the morning you will notice that you feel energized throughout the day. Having a brisk walk, jogging or aerobics for at least 30 minutes every day will increase your energy levels greatly.
4. Avoid sugar. Yes you've heard this rule many times but it can be quite a difficult habit to break. Enjoying something sweet every once in a while is fine but eating too many sweets will inevitably be bad for you. Sugar slows down metabolism and makes you feel sluggish, not to mention you are at a higher risk of getting diabetes.
5. Eat more often. Do not think you are doing yourself any favors by skipping meals, especially breakfast which of course is the most important meal of the day. It is the first meal of the day that you need in order to function, without it you will definitely feel the negative effects of it. Consider that the last thing you ate the night before was about 8 p.m. only to wake up the next morning, skip breakfast and eat lunch at about 12 noon. That's a whole 18 hours without food! No fuel to burn and nothing there to keep your energy levels up. Breakfast, lunch and dinner should be eaten every day with a small healthy snack in between them so that you never feel hungry.
6. Taking vitamins. Face it; sometimes we do not have the time or resources to get all the daily nutrients from food. That's where vitamins come in. Perhaps a multivitamin that contains critical vitamins our body needs such as b, c, d, e and so forth. For women you may need more iron and magnesium to get your energy levels up as they play a critical role in your overall health.
When fatigue hits us it is a burden. It saps our energy and we cannot perform at our best but by taking better care of ourselves by doing the steps listed above you will find great improvement in your overall health and energy.
